FIVE THINGS TO START TODAY, SO YOU CAN FEEL BETTER TOMORROW

I am in love with my co-authored book, Dear Younger Self – Unlocking The Knowledge Within. No, really! It is such an inspiring collection of stories from 30 beautiful people that live all around the world. Stories of strength, hope, legacy, new beginnings, vulnerability, and resilience. It truly was like writing a letter to my younger self; Little Kris, as I like to call her.
When the book was released last February, I was blessed with so much support, and beautiful messages. Everything from, “The feeling of knowing that I wasn’t alone was empowering.” “I’m so proud of you!” “I went through half a box of tissues reading your book.” “Man! This really hit home for me.” And my personal favorite, “I had NO IDEA, Kris!”
But most of all, I was asked, “So, how did you do it?”
That’s easy – baby steps. I knew that if I piled it on and overwhelmed myself that I would fail. I would just implement something new when I felt ready. I wanted to remember my process, so I grabbed a notebook, and started jotting each step down. Day after day, they became easier – more natural, and day after day, I felt better emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
That notebook eventually became, “Big Changes Start Small.” A guide with three simple steps – the steps that I took to change my story.
As promised, your five things:
- This is VERY important. Make a proclamation that you are ready to take 100% responsibility for your life. Say it loud and proud!
- Celebrate your wins, no matter how small. This pratice keeps you grateful and apprecitative for your growth and the journey.
- Look in the mirror every day and say, “I love you. I really, really love you.” This is tough at first – especially if you don’t love yourself. After a while it becomes less awkward. Heck, I even started flicking my hair, winking, and blowing myself kisses.
- Drink water. It is vital to EVERY CELL in your body! A good guideline is to take your weight, and divide it by two. That is how many ounces you should be drinking every day. If you feel that you’re not quite ready for that, just add a little more each day, and you’ll get there, I promise.
- Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep. Going to bed at the same time every night helps, as well as keeping the room comfortably cool. Napping is beneficial too.
Gah! I just got so excited typing those! I love the simplicity. Remember, it’s NEVER too late to create the life you truly want.
